Filomena Tassi, Member of Parliament for Hamilton West – Ancaster – Dundas was on campus July 18 to tour the McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute (MMRI) and meet with students holding Canada Summer Job opportunities.

The MMRI, located in the John Hodgins Engineering Building, is one of the largest university-based manufacturing research institutes in Canada, and develops intelligent solutions to issues faced by Canada’s manufacturers in all steps of machining processes.

While at the MMRI, MP Tassi met with undergraduate and graduate students to learn about their research and partnerships with industry.

Focused on developing technologies for industry partners, the MMRI’s core emphasis is improving productivity and quality, product and process innovation, and helping companies reduce costs.

Apart from working closely with industry, the MMRI also supports academic research and education programs.
