The history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada is a rich and complex one. Explore the leading work we are doing to deepen our collective understanding of Indigenous knowledge and reconciliation.
The Indigenous Teaching Through Art program was created by McMaster’s Department of Family Medicine, in collaboration with local Indigenous colleagues, to fill a knowledge gap about the history of Indigenous people in Canada.
Protective factors include communities’ strengths, ways of caring for family and community members, Indigenous knowledges and practices, as well as community-centred communications and community-driven and controlled public health measures.
