Seniors from the Hamilton community recently took part in Senior Fit Test Day at McMaster’s Physical Activity Centre of Excellence (PACE) – part of an exercise and wellness program designed to support older adults and promote successful aging.
"There’s definitely a genetic blueprint that determines how much muscle a person has and how much muscle they can put on," says kinesiologist Rob Morton.
The findings have uncovered a novel genetic control of lipid maintenance and its potential connection to lifespan. The team is currently working to understand how the newly discovered genetic mechanism links lipids to aging.
